Exercise # 23 (This exercise is part of Essay # 6)

Evaluation of a Resource Material

You have been given a short technical article, one that was written by an expert in their field, or perhaps some other material that could be used as a secondary research source for a term paper on that topic. Read the article or material, and note in particular any uses of statistical information, the types of rhetorical modes used in the article (comparison and contrast, cause and effect, definition, or process), and the argument structure, especially any logical constructs.

Summarize the article and provide a short response to the article (2 or 3 paragraphs). This will begin your writing of essay # 6, Writing an Evaluation of a Secondary Resource material.

Follow your previous outline and handout for writing a summary and response. This will become part of your Introduction for Essay # 6.

When you write your Evaluation Essay # 6, be sure to follow the guidelines of the special handout and read and refer to the pages assigned in the Handbook on writing an evaluation for both primary and secondary resource materials.
