Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Women's Rights Movement 1848-1998
This teaching workshop explored the diversity of approaches available to educators for the study of the women's rights movement. Attendees evaluated lesson plans that made the American Women's rights movement "come alive" for themselves and their students. Creative learning techniques centered on role-play, simulation, and discussion to enhance the student's awareness and knowledge of the history of women's experience in the United States.

Exploring Latin America and Africa
The NEOEA day workshop "Exploring Africa and Latin America," held in October 2000, offered curriculums for teachers to incorporate material from regions of the world that are often overlooked. Teachers learned ways that they could introduce and help students explain the importance of Africa and Latin America in the study of history, literature, and mathematics. The keynote address of the workshop was given by Dr. Donald Ramos, chairperson of the Department of History at Cleveland State University, on the significance of Latin America in relation to the World History curriculum for the State of Ohio.
