Assignments

HOMEWORK
A wire bound sketchbook is required. You are expected to draw in a sketchbook 4 days of the week outside of class, a minimum of 15 minutes a day. You may draw more. Bring your sketchbook to class on Fridays for review. Specific weekly assignments will be given that will correlate with the lesson to be learned that week. Click on the Sketchbook link for a detailed listing of assignments. The sketchbook should be used like a diary to record thoughts, observations, questions, etc. On each page, write down the date, time you began and and finished drawing, and the assignment in small characters in the lower right corner. Sketchbook size should be approximately 8x10 or larger.

DRAWING PROJECTS
See the Schedule listing on the toolbar for detailed project descriptions. In general, drawing projects will be introduced, demonstrated, and assigned during lecture on Monday. Lab hours will be used to develop the drawings. Additional work will be required outside of class to develop ideas, research reference materials, practice drawing techniques, and complete the drawings. Projects will be critiqued by the class the following Monday. You may make improvements to the drawings outside of class before submitting the project for grading on the Wednesday following the critique.

READINGS
Readings that correlate with the current week's drawing project will be assigned from your textbook. See the Schedule listing on the toolbar for specific chapter assignments. Readings should be completed prior to Wednesday's class of the assigned week to get the most benefit out of the material.
